About the Artist
I come from a family of artists and started drawing at a very early age. After graduating from Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, I taught art in public schools and pursued an interest in still life painting. In more recent years I have been painting en plein air as well as in my studio. I enjoy the immediacy of painting on location as well as the challenge of trying to capture the values, the play of light and the nuances of color in a particular landscape. My hope is to convey a mood and a sense of time and place in my paintings, not just record a subject.
I have furthered my studies over the years at Massachusetts College of Art, the Boston Museum Sc the DeCordova Museum and the Concord Art Association of which I am a member. I have studied with Maris Platais, George Nick and Patricia Tobacco Forrester. My paintings have been exhibited in numerous juried shows, one woman exhibits and group shows. I have done commissioned work and am represented in private collections throughout New England and in Florida.
